Our History

Delmur was established in 1992 by a group of reputable Guyanese businessmen and has grown into one of the leading shipping agents in Guyana. The company has built its success and reputation by offering a consistently professional service and demonstrating an enduring commitment to ethical values and excellence in performance. 

The principals of Delmur lead a team of highly skilled professionals, each having their own unique blend of experience and expert knowledge of the local business environment. In addition to ship agency services, this team  also offers ship piloting, cargo loading and unloading, ship husbandry, protocol services, and customs brokerage services to such major companies as Oldendorff Carriers, Bosai Mining Group and the Bauxite Company of Guyana Inc.

Delmur’s experience in the local extraction industries has positioned the company to extend its services to meet the needs of Guyana’s fast emerging oil and gas.

DIRECTOR & Co FOUNDER

Colin Elcock

Directs his activities towards operational matters and specializes in bauxite, fertilizer, timber products and other bulk commodities. He worked with Bauxite Industry Development Co. Ltd. (BIDCO) for 12 years, mainly in the shipping and Customs Departments.

Colin has a Masters Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Guyana, S.A. Responsible for the day-to-day functions of the office.

DIRECTOR & Co FOUNDER

Desmond Sears

Directs his activities towards chartering and other ship management activities and specializes in logistics management, having worked with BIDCO for 20 years. His direct responsibilities were chartering vessels for bauxite cargoes.

He was more recently General Manager of RMC Silica Co. Ltd. and Mazaruni Granite, where he was responsible for the production, chartering, marketing and shipping from Guyana to overseas destinations.  

He is President of the shipping Association of Guyana, Guyana Metal Recyclers Association, Vice Chairman of the Private Sector Commission of Guyana and Honorary Consulate General in Guyana for the Kingdom of Norway.

Desmond has an Honorary Doctorate of Professional Shipping from the Norwegian Shipping Academy of Oslo, Norway.

junior Director

Trevor London

He directs his activities towards operations in the emerging oil and gas industry in Guyana.  His career has spanned four years at BIDCO in marketing and 20 years at various companies in Calgary, Canada, where his responsibilities were in sulphur and gas marketing, financial planning and commodity tax advice.

He was a Senior Administrative Analyst at Amoco Canada Petroleum Co. Ltd. and a Senior Manager at Deloitte & Touche LLP, where he managed a team providing advisory services to the oil and gas industry.  Most recently, he has provided commodity tax advisory services to several Canadian majors, including Husky Energy, TransCanada Pipelines, Alliance Pipeline and Weatherford Canada Ltd., in issues related to upstream operations and the marketing and distribution of oil and gas and refined products in Canada and the U.S.

Trevor has an MBA (Finance) from the University of British Columbia and a B.Com (Hons.) from the University of Windsor.

operations manager

Bobby Vaughn

Bobby has been employed by Delmur for twenty four years, having begun as a clerk in the fertilizer bond after which he was promoted, successively, to Supervisor in the ship agency department and eventually to his current position of Operations Manager, a position he has held since 2010.  

As Operations Manager, Bobby is knowledgeable in all aspects of the ship agency function and has responsibility for liaison with the bauxite companies Bosai (Linden) and BCGI-Rusal (Berbice) and their loading basin operator, Oldendorff Carriers.

Port Control manager

Geoffery Babb

Currently employed as the Chief Pilot and Port Control Officer for all of Guyana`s international ports, Geoffrey is tabbed to assume the position of Port Control Manager, where he will assume responsibility for the safe passage of vessels to and from Guyana`s ports, including berthing and unberthing wharves and docks, and for the inspection of vessels to ensure compliance with loading and crewing requirements.

Geoffrey has a Diploma in Marine Surveying from the International Institute of Marine Surveying, North West Kent College, UK.
